Construction & Maintenance Team
The Construction and Maintenance team focuses on essential tasks to keep the trail in top condition, from clearing paths to ensuring a mile of trail is navigable to cleaning culverts for proper drainage. Their straightforward approach ensures the trail remains accessible and safe for all. Training required.

Flora and Fauna Team
The Salmonberry Flora and Fauna Team is involved with documenting the current habitat of the ecosystems along the Salmonberry Trail, including specific species, plants, and trees, both native and invasive. This team works collaboratively with partner organizations working to restore the Tualatin Watershed. Experience encouraged.

Good Neighbor Team
The Salmonberry Good Neighbors play a crucial role in ensuring the ongoing safety, security, and overall maintenance of the Salmonberry Trail. Members are assigned a mile of trail to walk regularly, document the trail, and address any activities concerning it. Training required.

Gravel Team
The Salmonberry Gravel Team works to recommend the best type of surface for hikers, bikers, and equestrian trail users. Activities include research, likely interviews, and supporting the trail’s early demonstration projects. Experience encouraged.

Guided Hike Team
The Salmonberry Guided Hike Team plays a crucial role in educating members of the public, donors, and supporters about the benefits of the Salmonberry Trail, its current status, and how to support the development and maintenance of the trail. Members of this team are committed to being positive public ambassadors for the trail.

Outdoor Education Team
The Outdoor Education Team designs curriculum and activities for students, bringing the SalmonBerry Trail into classrooms. This Team also invites students to the SalmonBerry Trail to experience firsthand its rich cultural history, its importance as a pristine environmental resource, and its value to the economy of Northwest Oregon. Are you a retired educator looking for a way to still be connected with students and school? Do you like working with students and environmental education? Join our team!

Scout Team
The Salmonberry Scout Team is responsible for surveying and documenting the current conditions of the unused track that will become the Salmonberry Trail. These scout reports are critical to plan future maintenance and construction projects. Training required.

Trailblazers Team
The Salmonberry Trailblazers play two pivotal roles in the planning and building of the trail. Trailblazers contribute to the creation and maintenance of trail sections by removing small trees and brush and later by assisting with the rewilding of the trail’s surrounding natural areas.

Trestle Team
The Salmonberry Trestle Team plays a vital role in establishing safe protocols for working on the decks of the trestles and bridges along the Salmonberry Trail. Activities may include cleaning forest debris, clearing growing foliage from structures, and identifying rotted or damaged structures. Training required.

Tunnel Team
The Tunnel Team is a group of people interested in helping to convert the tunnels along the Salmonberry Trail from Railroad Trail use.  All of the tunnels have some level of maintenance or rockfall issues.  The team will help find experts to evaluate the tunnels, recommend repairs, find contractors to prepare quotes, and assist in getting grants or other funds to make the repairs to open the tunnels for public use. Training required.
