The Boots & Roots Gala (Sold Out)
What a ride it's been this year for the Salmonberry Trail! With two new full-time staff on board, new board members, eight miles of the trail cleared in Washington County, and the wheels turning on rail salvage, we're just getting warmed up. We've reignited old friendships and sparked new partnerships, written numerous grants – including a RAISE grant application for Rockaway Beach – and the team hiked the wildest parts of the future trail. With Railstar Engineering's expertise, we have had many of our bridges inspected, and we have a plan to deck those bridges with support from our volunteers and have rallied teams covering everything from trestles to flora and fauna, not to mention kicking off our guided hikes.
Our Next Volunteer Happy Hour Is Scheduled For March 21st!
Join us at Nebulous Taproom from 5:30 - 7:00 PM on March 21st to mingle with Salmonberry Trail Board Members and staff and connect with fellow volunteers. We can’t wait to see you there!

Volunteer Opportunity: Board Treasurer Needed at Salmonberry Trail Foundation
The Salmonberry Trail Foundation is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as the Board Treasurer. This volunteer role is vital to our organization and requires a trustworthy and principled individual with a background in non-profit financial management.
Specialized Volunteer Opportunity: Help Us Set Boundaries on the Trail
As many of you are aware, we're nearing the end of the rail salvage process from Banks to the Williams Creek Trestle. This exciting milestone brings us to the next phase, which calls for a bit more technical and specialized volunteer effort than our usual gatherings.

Salmonberry Trail Intergovernmental Agency Board Meeting Scheduled for September 27, 2023
WHEELER, OR - The Salmonberry Trail Intergovernmental Agency (STIA) is holding its next board meeting on September 27, 2023, to discuss the development and ongoing efforts surrounding the proposed Salmonberry Trail.
Thank You!
Thank you all for a super volunteer event today. We cleared over 450 yards of track, going past the first landslide to just short of the second (big) landslide. Awesome work! In the last two weeks, we've cleared 1,600 yards from the Williams Creek trestle to where we stopped
Exciting Volunteer Opportunities: Salmonberry Trail Clearing Events
I'm pleased to announce that we have scheduled three Salmonberry Trail clearing events for the coming week.
We have a delightful, lightly wooded stretch of track, approximately one mile in length, between the Williams Creek trestle and Hwy 47, that needs our attention. We will be focusing on removing mostly 1-2 inch fir saplings using hand tools (loppers and pruning saws - no power tools, please). The good news is there are very few blackberry vines to contend with.
Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici visits the Salmonberry Trail
Bonamici visited on June 26, and was hosted by Salmonberry Trail Foundation Director Caroline Fitchett who shared information about work on the trail that will one day connect Banks and Tillamook via the disused Port of Tillamook Bay rail line through the Salmonberry Pass.
In addition to the Catalyst Loop section in Washington County that Bonamici visited, Rockaway Beach is currently developing plans to build a two-and-a-half mile section of trail. Photo Courtesy of the Office of Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici.
